Cell Phone Striders
You will never see a champion marathoner with a cell phone in his or her ear. Its just not how they are. They are into cutting a few seconds of of yesterday's time, which was already quite good. Same goes for people on the exercycle who are trying to go up a level or increase the rpms. Same goes for Dara Torres in the swimming pool, etc.
But, you probably aren't up there yet. In which case, its OK if you are on the cell phone while building up to a respectable workout point. The fact remains that you made it to the club for your workout and you are doing something. OK, it won't get you a trophy, but the cumulative effect of never missing just might get a ribbon in 5 years.
My book is all about discipline, staying at it. That means well beyond March 2 if you started Jan 2. We all begin at different levels. It's just that not all of us stay at it long enough to really make a difference.
I hope you will (even if I have to look at you plodding along while talking to your friends)!!
